Bucks-Wizards Preview
A difficult road trip slowed the Washington Wizards' move up the Eastern Conference standings, but two straight home games against lesser competition might help them regain some momentum.

The Wizards seek their fifth win in six home games on Wednesday when they meet the Milwaukee Bucks, who have lost eight straight on the road.

Washington (38-36) had won 11 of 15 before going 2-3 on a five-game Western Conference road trip that concluded with a 129-87 loss at Utah on Monday - a defeat that followed a 126-120 overtime loss to the Los Angeles Lakers the night before.

Antawn Jamison scored 22 points, while reserve Nick Young chipped in 18 for the Wizards, who have lost two in a row for the first time since an eight-game skid from Jan. 30-Feb. 11.

"We just didn't have it," Wizards coach Eddie Jordan said. "When we tried to take away the paint, they made shots. They got the juice going."

The Wizards were outrebounded 40-23, and outshot 59.5 percent to 44.1 from the field.

"They attacked us (and) kept attacking," said shooting guard DeShawn Stevenson, who was limited to nine points. "Everybody on their team played well."

Washington also failed to move closer to fourth place and home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs. The Wizards, seeking their fourth straight postseason berth, are fifth in the East, three games behind Cleveland with eight remaining.

After facing Milwaukee (25-48), Washington hosts league-worst Miami on Friday.

On Monday, the Wizards were without small forward Caron Butler, who rested his strained left hamstring. It is unknown whether he will play Wednesday.

Butler, a Wisconsin native, is averaging 26.5 points in two appearances versus the Bucks in 2007-08, scoring a season-high 40 in a 105-102 loss at Milwaukee on Jan. 27.

Butler was sidelined for the Wizards' 105-97 home victory on March 11 in the teams' most recent meeting, but Washington won behind Jamison's 23-point effort.

Jamison is averaging 22.8 points over his last 10 games, while Young is shooting 65.2 percent from the field in his last two.

Washington, which hasn't played at the Verizon Center since March 23, has won four of five there - a stretch that began with its March 11 win over Milwaukee.

The Wizards are 2-1 against the Bucks this season, and have won six of the last seven matchups at home. They haven't won five straight home meetings over Milwaukee since March 7, 1992-April 2, 1994.

Milwaukee, which will miss the playoffs for the third time in four seasons, is 6-30 on the road, having only one more road victory than Minnesota.

The Bucks snapped their four-game overall losing streak with a 119-115 overtime win over visiting New York on Tuesday.

Michael Redd scored 36 points, and Bobby Simmons added a season-high 24 for the Bucks, who have won just twice in their last 12 games.

"I thought that was an opportunity for us to maybe fold our tent, but guys kept coming and making shots," Bucks coach Larry Krystkowiak said.

Andrew Bogut had 24 points and 13 rebounds as he returned to the lineup after missing the previous two games with a broken nose.

Bogut is averaging 17.0 points and 11.3 boards in three games against Washington.

Meanwhile, Redd, the Bucks' leading scorer (23.4), scored 26 in his lone appearance against Washington this season.
