Milwaukee Bucks Getting Inside 2009-09-19

Milwaukee Bucks Getting Inside 2009-09-19Just seven years ago, the Bucks didn't have one foreign player on their roster.

This season, barring a trade, more than half of the Bucks' roster is expected to consist of foreign-born players.

The Bucks have four foreign players returning from last season's roster: center Andrew Bogut of Australia, power forward-center Francisco Elson (Netherlands), center Dan Gadzuric (Netherlands) and Luc Mbah a Moute (Cameroon).

Bucks general manager John Hammond acquired three more players this summer who are foreign-born. They are small forward Carlos Delfino (Argentina), power forward Ersan Ilyasova (Turkey), and point guard Roko Ukic (Croatia).

Giving the Bucks' roster an even more international flavor is forward Joe Alexander, who was born in Taiwan.

"Did I mention that our new nickname is the Milwaukee 'United Nations' Bucks," Bogut noted in a blog. "The game is going global and we would now be one of the leading teams with players from different nations."
