Milwaukee Bucks Getting Inside 2009-11-06

Milwaukee Bucks Getting Inside 2009-11-06One of the Bucks' worst fears has been realized.

Coming into the 2009-2010 season, the Bucks were keeping their fingers crossed that their two star players -- Michael Redd and Andrew Bogut -- would stay healthy.

That wasn't the case last season, and the Bucks paid a steep price. Redd tore his anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments in his right knee and missed the last 35 games of the season. Bogut suffered a lower back injury and was forced to miss the last 31 games.

The Bucks wound up missing the playoffs, having won only 34 games.

Unfortunately for the Bucks, Redd is hurt again. He strained the patella tendon in his left knee in the second half of the Bucks' regular-season home opener Saturday night against the Pistons.

Redd is expected to be sidelined for at least two weeks before having his knee reevaluated.

"I hate it; I just hate it," Redd said of his latest injury. "I'll be OK. I just have to let the swelling go down. We want to be smart about it. It's a long season.

"I have all the confidence in the world in my guys."

Redd, who has been the Bucks' leading scorer the last six straight seasons, will be replaced in the starting lineup by Charlie Bell. Carlos Delfino, who has been playing small forward, will also get some time at shooting guard as will Jodie Meeks, the Bucks' second-round draft pick.

BULLS 83, BUCKS 81: The Bucks played exceptional defense in the first half but subpar defense in the second half Tuesday night at the United Center. The Bucks moved to a 43-29 halftime advantage before allowing the Bulls to virtually erase that lead in the third quarter when they outscored the Bucks 27-17. The Bulls took the lead in the fourth quarter, although the Bucks had a chance to tie the game with 13.7 seconds left when Brandon Jennings had his shot blocked by Derrick Rose. Bucks forward Ersan Ilyasova then missed a three-pointer with two seconds left for the win.
