The Bucks just can't seem to shake the injury bug. After having last season sabotaged by prolonged injuries to stars Michael Redd and Andrew Bogut, the Bucks are hurting again. Redd has been sidelined for nearly three weeks after suffering a strained patella tendon to his left knee, and now Bogut will be sidelined for about four weeks after hurting his left leg late in Wednesday night's game against the Nets.
Bogut suffered a lower left leg sprain and contusion. The injury is similar to the one he had two years ago.
Bogut had been playing extremely well. He is averaging 16.1 points, 9.2 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.4 blocked shots this season.
"It's disappointing; Andrew was playing at a very high level," Bucks general manager John Hammond said. "Obviously, it's a concern. But it's not our job to dwell on it."
Hammond said the Bucks will fill Bogut's spot by "committee." Members of that committee are veteran Kurt Thomas, whom the Bucks acquired from the Spurs during the offseason, and Dan Gadzuric, who has been Bogut's understudy the last four seasons. Bucks coach Scott Skiles is also expected to play some small ball, using power forwards Hakim Warrick and Ersan Ilyasova at the same time.
If Bogut is out for the projected four weeks, he would miss 12 games.
BUCKS 95, BOBCATS 88: The Bucks' bench played a major role in the outcome Friday night at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, combining to score 36 points. By contrast, the Bobcats' bench produced only 22 points. Power forward Hakim Warrick led the Bucks' reserves with 16 points, while shooting guard Jodie Meeks and point guard Luke Ridnour contributed eight points apiece. Warrick also grabbed a team-high nine rebounds, and another Bucks reserve, center Kurt Thomas, finished with seven boards.
Brandon Jennings led Milwaukee (7-3) with 29 points and seven assists.
