Milwaukee Bucks Getting Inside 2009-12-06

The Bucks are one of the least aggressive teams in the league, and it's reflected in their free throw shooting. Or lack of free throw shooting.

Through the first 17 games of the season, the Bucks have gone to the free throw line just 334 times. In contrast, their opponents have taken 486 free throws -- or a whopping 152 more times.

Making the situation even worse is the Bucks' sub-par free throw shooting percentage: .719. In contrast, their opponents have connected on .763 of their free throws. The Bucks' free throw problems were never more apparent than Wednesday night against the Wizards. The Bucks took a mere 12 free throws. The Wizards took 34.

"We're getting killed at the line," Bucks coach Scott Skiles said. "We're fouling at the wrong time and putting them on the line. And then, when we get into the penalty, all of a sudden we stop being as aggressive.

"We have to get to the line more and we have to make our free throws. There's no doubt about it."

PISTONS 105, BUCKS 96: The listless Bucks were virtually dominated in every phase of the game Friday night at Auburn Hills, Mich. The Bucks fell behind 34-23 after the first quarter and never seriously threatened the Pistons the rest of the way. Point guard Luke Ridnour came off the bench to lead the Bucks with 21 points. Small forward Carlos Delfino and rookie point guard Brandon Jennings each had 15 points, although Jennings converted on just six of 20 shots from the field.
