Bucks officials haven't been overly thrilled by Andrew Bogut's recent play. Bogut, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2005 NBA draft, has turned in three sub-par performances. The first came against the Wizards Wednesday night when Brendan Haywood kept Bogut in check, limiting him to eight points and seven rebounds in 39 minutes. Bogut then followed with another disappointing outing against the Pistons Friday night in Auburn Hills, Mich. Bogut struggled against veteran Pistons center Ben Wallace, finishing with eight points and five rebounds in 27 minutes. He failed to score in the first half.
Sunday, against the Cavaliers, Bogut was AWOL again. He had only four points at halftime when the Cavs took a commanding 52-33 lead. He finished with seven points on 3-of-11 shooting.
Bogut, who signed a guaranteed $60 million contract two summers ago, admitted he should be contributing more on both ends of the floor.
"I've just got to try and get out of this rut I'm in," Bogut said. "The last two games I've played terribly, and I've got to re-evaluate and come up with more energy. There's no excuse."
Until his recent slump, Bogut was enjoying a highly-productive season. He entered Sunday's game against the Pistons averaging 15.3 points, 9.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.75 blocked shots a game.
In six games prior to his two-game slump, Bogut scored 19 or more points in five games. He also averaged 10 rebounds in that span.
CAVALIERS 101, BUCKS 86: After the Bucks opened the game with an 11-0 run, the Cavs countered with a vengeance, going on a 29-0 run from 4:36 of the first quarter to 5:11 in the second quarter to take a 39-19 advantage. The Bucks missed 18 consecutive shots in that stretch. The game was, for all intents and purposes, over at halftime as the Bucks trailed 52-33.
