Last summer, Michael Redd and Andrew Bogut participated in the Olympic Games in China. This summer, two more Bucks could be playing in international competition.
Bucks rookie forward Luc Mbah a Moute said he's seriously considering playing for Cameroon in the African championships, and Bucks veteran center Francisco Elson said he's committed to playing for The Netherlands in qualifying for the European championships. Both players have played for their countries before, and both said they enjoyed it immensely.
"It was one of the best experiences I've had in basketball," said Mbah a Moute, who helped Cameroon advance to the championship game two years ago before losing to Angola. "Going to the Final Four at UCLA was great, too. But representing your country was very special for me."
Mbah a Moute said some details needed to be worked out before he committed to playing for Cameroon, including insurance. There is also a possibility the Bucks might insist he plays for their summer league team in Las Vegas.
Las Vegas Summer League teams play in July -- the same time as the African Championships.
BUCKS 98, MAGIC 80: The undermanned Bucks parlayed a dominant second quarter into a victory over the undermanned Magic on Monday night at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee. The Bucks, without injured stars Michael Redd and Andrew Bogut, outscored the Magic 32-19 in the second quarter en route to a 50-43 halftime lead. The Bucks were never seriously challenged the rest of the way by the Magic, who played without injured stars Dwight Howard, Rashard Lewis and Hedo Turkoglu. Charlie Villanueva had 12 of his 18 points in the pivotal second quarter, and Joe Alexander had all 11 of his points in the period. Richard Jefferson topped Bucks scorers with 24 points.
