Milwaukee Bucks Getting Inside 2008-03-29
The heated Bulls-Bucks' rivalry figures to become even hotter during the next two weeks. The Bulls, who are battling for the eighth and final spot in the Eastern Conference playoffs, will play their main nemesis twice before the end of the season, with the first game Saturday night at the United Center in Chicago.

The Bulls have a 28-44 record after losing to the Hawks Friday night at Atlanta and are now four games behind the eighth-place Hawks in the playoff standings. The Bulls haven't helped their playoff cause lately, losing four of their last five games and six of their last eight.

Saturday night's game will mark the first time the Bucks have played the Bulls since the latter team was part of a three-team, 11-player trade with the Cavaliers and SuperSonics on Feb. 21.

Two of the key players in the blockbuster deal -- forward Drew Gooden and shooting guard Larry Hughes -- have performed solidly for the Bulls.

In the 17 games with the Bulls heading into Friday night's game, Gooden was averaging 14.3 points and 9.5 rebounds. In the same number of games with the Bulls, Hughes is averaging 13.5 points and 3.6 assists. The Bulls have posted a 7-12 record since the deal.

The Bucks and Bulls have played against each other twice this season, with the Bucks winning 93-83 on Nov. 3 at Milwaukee and the Bulls winning 103-99 on Dec. 28 at Chicago. The final game of the season between the teams is April 14 at Milwaukee.

MAGIC 103, BUCKS 86: With starting center Andrew Bogut sidelined with a broken nose, the Bucks didn't have anyone to keep Magic star center Dwight Howard in check.

Howard was a one-man wrecking crew, finishing with a game-high 25 points and game-leading 11 rebounds in the game. Howard did the bulk of his damage in the first half. That's when he scored 17 points in helping the Magic to a 60-43 advantage.

Howard converted on 11 of 14 free throw attempts in the first half. The Magic made 19 of 25 free in the first half compared to just six of 10 for the Bucks.

Point guard Mo Williams led the Bucks with 18 points and his backup, Royal Ivey, contributed 12 points. It was the Bucks' third straight setback and their ninth loss in the last 10 games.
