Milwaukee Bucks Notes, Quotes 2008-07-26
--The Bucks added to their point guard mix with the signing of veteran Tyronn Lue, who played last season for the Hawks and Mavericks.

"Having a chance to play for a successful team was important to me and this team is headed in the right direction," the 31-year-old explained. "I feel I have a good chance to be a leader and contribute to this team's success."

Despite having started 173 games in his career, Lue comes to the Bucks as Mo Williams' backup. He will battle summer league star Ramon Sessions for playing time.

Lue received a one-year contract worth $2.5 million, which helped convince him not to accept the Suns' $1.2 million offer to be Steve Nash's backup. The 6-footer averaged 5.8 points and 1.5 assists last season.

--The Bucks also raided the Mavericks' free-agent ranks to grab F Malik Allen. Like Lue, the 30-year-old had been acquired (from New Jersey) last February.

"Tyronn and Malik have been solid contributors and good teammates throughout their NBA careers," noted Bucks general manager John Hammond. "They give us added depth at the guard and forward positions, and both bring valuable playoff experience to our roster."

Allen, who played previously for Skiles in Chicago, will duel Charlie Villanueva and Alexander for playing time. He received a two-year deal worth a total of $3 million.

He averaged 4.6 points and 2.7 rebounds in 73 games last season.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "Coach Skiles has won every place he's been." -- G Tyronn Lue, expressing one reason he chose to sign with the Bucks as a free agent.
