Milwaukee Bucks Roster Report 2008-09-05

Milwaukee Bucks Roster Report 2008-09-05
DRAFT PICKS:

Joe Alexander, F, 6-8, West Virginia -- He was largely unknown to the general public until piling up 22 points and 11 rebounds in an NCAA Tournament upset of Duke last March. Alexander also proved to be surprisingly athletic. His three-quarter court sprint time of 2.99 seconds was second-fastest at the Orlando predraft camp.

Luc Mbah a Moute, F, 6-8, UCLA -- This undersized power forward did much of the dirty work while UCLA reached the Final Four for the past three seasons. The Cameroon native averaged 8.8 points and 6.0 rebounds last year as a junior.

BIGGEST NEEDS: After a huge makeover during the off-season, the Bucks' biggest need now is to get on the floor together and learn each others' names.

FREE AGENT FOCUS: The Bucks have no key free agents.

PLAYER NOTES:

--Newly-acquired small forward Richard Jefferson has played in 78 playoff games. That's easily more than the rest of the Bucks' projected starting lineup: Luke Ridnour (11), Michael Redd (16), Charlie Villanueva (0) and Andrew Bogut (5) -- combined.

--Bucks F Charlie Villanueva is working on a project with Crocs Inc. to collect recycled footwear for underprivileged children in his native country of The Dominican Republic. Villanueva's goal is to raise 10,000 shoes.

--Bucks G Charlie Bell is participating in the Basketball Without Borders camp in Johannesburg, South Africa. The camp features 100 of Africa's top teenage basketball players. Washington's Caron Butler, San Antonio's Matt Bonner and Chicago's Thabo Sefolosha are also participating in the camp.

--F Richard Jefferson will wear jersey No. 24 after all. After being acquired by the Bucks, Jefferson was assigned No. 44 because No. 24 was already taken by Desmond Mason. But Mason was recently dealt to Oklahoma City, clearing the way for Jefferson to get No. 24 again.
