After working in a Baton Rouge supermarket for almost three years, Johnson played basketball at the University of New Orleans under coach Tim Floyd. As a college player, he became great dominant center and got lots of Awards. After his biggies in University, he was drafted in 1993 as 23rd overall by Seatle SuperSonics. His the most productive NBA season came in 1996/97 in Denver Nuggets. He played and started all of 82 season games and he averaged 7,1 points, 11,1 rebounds and 2,8 blocks per game. Next season he missed only one game but appeared and started in all other 81 games with 8 points, 8,5 rebounds 2 blocks per game and 537% field goals. He played for 4 NBA teams in his 12 NBA seasons averaging about 4 points 6 rebounds and 1 block per game. He was signed as a free agent with the Milwaukee Bucks on August 29, 2005.
His Privateer jersey (40) was retired December 29, 1997 at Lakefront Arena.
